However, as much as I farmed, Draak from Ragnarök blew past me in the scenario points farm stakes. Seemed like he had a lot more uber units and was farming an an alarmingly high rate to me. There was no way I could match him now.
I then decided to expand to Molten Ashlands as soon as possible, upgrading my council halls to get the required 50 civilization points and training 25 settlers. I sent off 8k berserkers and 500 trolls to escort my settlers but there was really no need. I ported into close to my settling spot and there was no mobs on the way. All that scouting (of portal stones) previously proved to be useful.
My alliance (Romance Empire) were talking about the fact that Ragnarök was killing the Mother Dragon soon. We had to either kill the Mother Dragon first or attack them to slow them down. We were not ready to kill the Mother Dragon so our plans were to attack Ragnarök. I then went to bed (I am in Australia) and when I woke up, behold, there were the words of Ramdas:
As foretold in prophecy a day would come that would shake the very Earth to the core itself. On this day a force so big that the Mother Dragon and even the Gods shake in fear of its coming. This force will bring about the end of the world all villages will burn, all soldiers will die, and many of the Gods will parish. This force signifies the end of one world and the beginning of another. Midgard will be burned in ashes in this final epic battle but out of the ashes will raise a new world and a new age. This force has now challenged the Mother Dragon. Could the prophecy be happening? Is this the coming of……….. ………………………………………………Ragnarök
Prepare your Magicians and cast far sight on the Mother Dragon lair (Island/cave) because we are about to find out. Will the Mother Dragon and her minions prevail or will the day of Ragnarök come? All Yee others can only watch in anticipation as the prophecy approaches fruition.
Whilst I slept, Ragnarök killed the Mother Dragon and won the game round! If interested, here is a link to the final battle report:

Big congratulations to Ragnarök! You won a lot quicker then I expected and certainly dominated Midgard. Bad luck to the rest of us. My final position on the scoreboard was 4th which is very respectable given it was my first game round. I am very competitive though, so of course, would have preferred to have finished higher. :)
I ended up with 1370 achievement points so I think I did well there:
I had a few plans which were cut short:
- Engaging in more pvp, with counterattacks against Ragnarök. The only major battle was the time they attacked me, as mentioned in my last update.
- Recruiting a Thief for my 5th hero and using that to steal key items.
- Farming ancient ruins to see what they dropped. I was not able to get to any at all.
- Building all of my buildings to level 10.
- Exploring the rest of the world.
I had envisaged game rounds going for maybe 4-6 months. I think currently the Mother Dragon is too easy. I had thought you had to have maximum civilization sizes and armies before you could kill the Mother Dragon. Thus, I look forward to the future Mother Dragon changes to address this issue.
I did have a lot of fun though, it just felt like the fun ended too quickly. :( Anyhow, Midgard will reset soon and off we go again. I now understand the game a lot better and will be pushing a lot harder in game round #2. Here is a summary of lessons I learnt:
- Focus should be on civilization build only with scenario points farming on the side. Once built up, you can catch up on scenario points quite easily.
- Expand as fast as you can, take the risk! You do not need to send an overwhelming force with your settlers as you can just dodge mobs on the way. Once you establish a new village, the hero protective skill, wall, moat and towers will aid your village defense greatly.
- It is a pve race to the Mother Dragon. Anything else slows you down.
- I chose the evil alignment this round but I think good has more suitable uber units, so I will try good in game round #2.

ReplyDeleteGood reading :) Glad you are enjoying yourself!
ReplyDeleteSeems like Ragnarök caught us all by surprise!
I definitely think we can make the Mother Dragon a little bit tougher before we get time to implement the planned changes to the end-event.
what does key item mean?
ReplyDeleteI see all kind of chest but I can't find any key.
I start the game too late, with apple on the stick I can't catch too much
Tweezer, what I meant by key was important items, eg, items from the Mother Dragon set.
ReplyDeleteIf you cant'beat them join them.
